About: Derek Newberger (he/him/él) was born and raised in Colorado. Derek went to Baylor University for a B.S. in Biology, served in the Peace Corps in Panama for over two years, got an M.S. in Biology from the University of San Francisco, and is now back in Colorado. Derek is a Ph.D. student in the Horticulture and Landscape Architecture department where Derek’s current research is on peaches. Derek enjoys arts and crafts, video games, and reading.

Co-President: Erin Snyder

About: Erin (she/her) is a 5th year Ph.D. candidate studying materials chemistry. Born and raised in Ohio, she went to Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida for undergrad. She graduated there in 2019 with a B.A. in Chemistry. Here at CSU, Erin works in Dr. Amy Prieto’s research lab, analyzing the surface chemistry of semiconducting nanoparticles for photovoltaic applications. After graduation, she plans to continue researching renewable energy materials in industrial research and development. Some of Erin’s favorite activities are practicing singing and piano, going to concerts, and cheering for the Tennessee Titans and The Ohio State Buckeyes during football season. In her free time, she loves to explore Fort Collins and hang out with her pets – a dog, a cat, and a turtle.

Vice President of Advocacy: Shelby Davis

About: Shelby Davis (she/her) is currently a second year PhD student at Colorado State University in the Industrial-Organizational Psychology program. Shelby is a Maryland native whose academic journey began at Tennessee State University where she earned a B.S. in Biology and Psychology (‘16), and continued at Western Kentucky University, where she earned her M.S. in Psychology (‘22). Shelby has a profound commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion across various domains. Her research focuses on occupational health psychology, delving into the impacts of psychologically unsafe work environments for marginalized groups, under the mentorship of Dr. Danielle Gardner in the Researching Identity & Stigma in Employment (RISE) Lab. For fun, Shelby enjoys shopping, painting, traveling, and serving the community as a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Vice President of Engagement: Brittany Lynner

About: Brittany Lynner (she/her) is a fourth-year Ph.D. student in Industrial-Organizational Psychology. Hailing from Stow, OH, Brittany attended The Ohio State University for her degrees in Psychology (BA ‘16) and Higher Education & Student Affairs (MA ‘18). Thereafter, she worked professionally in Residential Education until coming to CSU to further her education. Brittany’s research interests include the experiences of burnout for student affairs professionals, work experiences of those in recovery from substance misuse and those who were previously incarcerated, and organizational culture in relation to social justice and well-being. In her free time, Brittany enjoys going to stand-up comedy shows, watching sports and reality TV, and exploring Colorado with her partner, Chris, and their rescue puppies, Bella and Scout.

Srishti Gupta

Vice President of Finance: Srishti Gupta

About: Srishti Gupta (she/her) is a third- year Ph.D. student in Agricultural biology department. Her research is to understand mechanism of herbicide resistance in weeds. She hails from northern part of India, where she pursued her early education in Biology. Apart from her research she likes dancing, vlogging, traveling and cooking. She will be serving RAMS as the VP of Finance. She is a jovial and pleasing person who will encourage graduate students to participate in university events and she will contribute her time and effort for the for progress of GSC.

Vice President of Grants: Nancy Ghanem

About: Nancy (she/her) is a second-year Ph.D. student in Food Science and Human Nutrition. Originally from Cairo, Egypt, Nancy moved to the United Arab Emirates at 11 years old and finally moved to the United States at 17 years old to play Division 1 Tennis at Colorado State University Varsity Team. She holds a B.S. in Food Science and Human Nutrition with a concentration in Dietetics, as well as an M.S. in Food Science and Nutrition from CSU. Ghanem’s research interest centers around exploring the connection and mechanisms underlying dietary intake with chronic diseases. She is currently investigating the impact of wild blueberry consumption on cardiovascular disease in middle-aged/older adults who are susceptible to developing cardiovascular disease. During her free time, Nancy enjoys spending time with friends and family, hosting/planning events, baking, watching movies, and spending time outdoors.

Vice President of Information: Vigor Lam

About: Vigor (he/him) is a third-year Ph.D. student in Higher Education Leadership. Born in the South and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Vigor holds a B.S. in Landscape Architecture from The Ohio State University and a M.Ed. in Postsecondary Administration and Student Affairs (PASA) from University of Southern California. His research interests include the study of decolonized, equitable, and universal physical campus spaces and intersect with his passions in architecture, design, construction, and higher education. He is a distance student and is based in the Bay Area/San Francisco where he works full-time as a construction manager for Jacobs. When he has free time, he enjoys cooking, reading, being outdoors (cycling, hiking, snowboarding), and traveling.
